Meter family
- Aidon 5500 - an open and modular AMR meter family

The openness of the architecture extends to the level of metering; the metering task and the data communication solution are separated from each other. Aidon 5500 meter family is based on an open architecture that meets energy companies' needs to incorporate different technologies into a single operating system. Aidon's meters consist of a reliable energy meter with a data communication bus and an associated system module.

The system module connects the meter to the reading system and, as necessary, extends the energy metering functionality to tasks such as the provision of time-stamped registry values, control of loads, registration of power outages, power quality and fault information, as well as reading of external status information.

The meter's functions can be used in real time (controlled by the energy company's own system) or by an independently-operated integrated timer. Any requirements for changes in the future are accounted for by remote software upgrades through OTAP (Over the Air Provisioning).

The open meter is compatible as such with most commercially available metering systems. If necessary, the basic meter can be adapted to any system by means of a system module engineered for the specific system in question. If there is a need to replace the system module during the meter's life cycle, this can be done easily without replacing the basic meter.

Deliveries of Aidon 5500 meters have started in all of our most important market areas, Finland, Sweden and Norway.
