Aidon builds a logistics hub for Finland

Aidon Oy, specialising in energy metering and advanced metering management (AMM) systems, is building a logistics hub for Finland. The company has become a significant actor in its field within the last few years, and it has already delivered about half a million remotely readable energy meters to the Nordic countries.

Aidon Customization Center logistics hubs are currently found in Lithuania and Sweden. Other locations in which the company has operations are Jyväskylä, Sweden, and Norway, as well as manufacturing in China and Lithuania.

By building this new hub, the company prepares for high volumes of deliveries as Finnish energy companies deploy remote reading. The company chose Vantaa as the location for the new hub, since the company’s operation model is best supported by good connections to Vantaa.    

‘We want to bring the final assembly of devices tailored for each customer close to our customers, and to offer flexible deliveries and service in Finnish. This also ensures prompt deliveries of devices specially designed for our domestic customers’ needs,’ says Timo Chrons, CEO of Aidon Oy.

This logistics hub is part of the new service concept that Aidon developed to meet its needs as an international technology company. A significant amount of this work has been part of the Tekes (Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation) Concepts of Operations programme.

‘Aidon Customization Center solutions can be introduced to any growing market. This offers a significant competitive edge through local service, solid management of material flows, and flexibility,’ Chrons says.

Several European countries will start to deploy remote meter reading within the next few years by embracing open-architecture technology. Aidon’s open-architecture system can read meters from other suppliers and can be integrated with an energy company’s existing business systems. Similarly, Aidon ‘smart meters’ can be integrated into systems from other suppliers.
