NEWS RELEASE - 03-04-2008
Aidon and Tritech offer new joint solution for automatic reading
of electricity meters
Aidon and Tritech Technology AB, the Swedish company which
specializes in wireless systems, have signed an agreement,
which means that Aidon and Tritech, during a 24-month period,
will supply at least 100,000 units of the communication solution
MeshNet to principally Nordic energy companies.
Aidon's meter in combination with Tritech's communication
solution represent a new generation of electricity meters,
which through its flexible and modular structure provides
the customers with a product with favourable life cycle costs.
The Swedish Parliamentary decision in 2003 that all electricity
consuming customers, in 2009 at the latest, will pay for their
actual electricity consumption raises new demands on the energy
companies' reading of meters. Consequently, the possibilities
of remote reading have become more interesting for the energy
companies.
Aidon and Tritech now offer energy companies in the Nordic
countries a new generation of technological solution for automatic
reading of electricity meters. A simple and open product concept
that through its flexibility practically can handle all sorts
of installations, which is something few competitors can compete
with.
- Aidon and Tritech share the same way of thinking, as we
work with open system solutions and product development which
are based on standards, says Nils Rex, Country Manager, Aidon
Sweden. This enables for the communication solution to be
adapted to most environments. The infrastructure is created
at the same time as the installation of Aidon's meter, an
energy meter with integrated communication. No external communication
equipment is required.
Tritechs' Mesh based radio solution MeshNET differs in several
ways from other communication platforms on the market. Several
small, low-power radio transmitters co-operate to transport
data from electricity meters to a central collection point
based on mesh networking. The result is a robust data collection
network which is easy to install and maintain. The solution
is already in use at Fortum and E.ON.
- A key argument for our solution is the low life cycle cost,
says Thomas Jonsson, Manager MeshNET. The simplicity, openness
and flexibility put together mean that our solution can offer
a total cost for purchase, installation and maintenance that
is less than half of what any of the other solutions on the
market can offer.
