Aidon leads the way in automatic meter reading
with the Aidon 5530-an open-standard, modular AMR meter
Aidon Ltd, the Nordic supplier of energy meters launches
a new automatic energy meter that meets the future standards
on up-to-date energy monitoring for households.
The Aidon 5530 is an open solution that meets energy companies'
needs to incorporate different technologies into a single
operating system. The AMR meter combines a reliable energy
meter, with a data communication bus and system module.
The Aidon 5530 is compatible with most commercially available
metering systems. Suppliers may freely choose the system module
they want to use, as the data link to the reader is based
on open standards.
The Aidon 5530 meter has a modular integrated system module,
producing time-stamped register values and offers various
services such as load control, etc. It registers power cuts,
quality of supply and fault messages and reads the status
of external device. The meter's functions can be used in real
time (controlled by the energy company's own system) or by
an independently-operated integrated timer.
After installation, the Aidon 5530 does not require on-site
visits, as metering data is collected through a wireless OTAP
(Over the Air Provisioning) via a built-in GRPS link. This
also provides a useful method of downloading new programmes
and functions.
Changing the communication type of the Aidon 5530 is easy,
as only the system module needs changing. Replacing only a
part of the meter also supports sustainable development, by
reducing the amount of waste.
Unrivalled quality and an extended life-cycle are the crucial
design concepts of the Aidon 5530. Simple and quick to install,
the Aidon 5530 is fitted in a streamlined casing and has a
user-friendly interface.
The Aidon 5530 is the first of a new generation of AMR (Automatic
Meter Reading) meters. In the Nordic countries alone, around
14 million meters will be replaced within the next few years.
